• FM/DAB/TV DX Receptions | Bandscans | Archives •
Welcome!
On this channel, I mainly share my best and most interesting FM & DAB+ DX receptions (Unusual long-distance catches of analog/digital radio signals), but also bandscans. Very occasionally, I upload radio archives and idents.
📍 My DX station is located 10km South-West of Lyon, France.
I no longer publish TV archives on RUclips for legal reasons.
You can find them on Archive.org (Profile link below), as well as random radio airchecks.
All videos available on this channel are uploaded for entertainment purposes only. None of them are monetized.
Feel free to leave a comment for any question or suggestion.

Permanent reception of RAI IsoRadio near Lyon, France on TEF6686 and telescopic antenna | 240km
This video features how RAI IsoRadio (Italy) is permanently received on 103.3 in the town of Saint-Martin-en-Haut (About 20km South-West of Lyon), France on a TEF6686 receiver and a telescopic antenna.
The reception lasts for a few meters, and then goes away. There is a very local radio waves reflection phenomena in this area. The signal is receivd thanks to a bounce on the Alps and not directly, obviously.
The received TX site is unsure, but everything makes me think this could be the site of Saint-Vincent/Frazione Salirod, in the Aosta Valley, destinated to cover the A5 highway. This transmitter has an ERP of 5kW and is located 241km away.
Little local signals from Chamonix-Mont-Blanc work...

Did you also get the other RTL on 97.0?
I didn't.
Impressionnant!

What's your opinion, Lucas, about this type of TEF?
I am very satisfied by this receiver! Excellent selectivity and sensitivity, and I love being able to see the advanced RDS data on a portable RX.
@TransistorFR Can you compare it with the "gray metal box" TEF-6686?
@@__FM__ Unfortunately not, I've never owned this model!
Nice TEF, Lucas
It is a beast :)
How's the FM band without the Swiss anymore? ;)
There is no specific impact at this place because it is pretty far away from Switzerland. Where I live, there is not much to gain, except the fact that SWR4 Rheinland-Pfalz works better via Tropo on 105.6 since Couleur 3 (from La Dôle) is now OFF on this frequency. Same for SR Kultur which works better on 91.3 since RTS La Première 91.2 (from La Dôle too) is OFF as well. I will see to make some bandscans in Switzerland very soon, before and after the closure of the private/commercial radio stations TXs.
@@TransistorFR Inner Switzerland might become the new "Uto Island" for continental dxers 😅
@@__FM__ Probably, especially on high mountain peaks. :)

Hello, congratulations for this DX. What surprises me is that the 52-54 mHz band is an amateur band in France and also in Jamaica. Best regards, Jean-Pierre
Hello, thank you for your comment. This STL is potentially against the bands regulation then, that's not impossible! I doubt this was an harmonic from a FM frequency. Best regards, Lucas
@@TransistorFR Hello, a harmonic frequency is always higher than the base frequency and not lower. 53.5 mHz is perhaps the harmonic 3 of 17.83 mHz (high power broadcast band) I have noticed this phenomenon with my Icom Ic-7000. But such a distance is possible in 50 mHz, perhaps ask the Jamaican station if they use 50 mHz as a service channel. Best regards, Jean-Pierre F1HFW

No it is time for FM DX in Switzerland! You can receive Transmitter from foreign Stations.
Not bad, great radio I like it, only DAB? I've been hearing about it in Italy for 30 years, it was 1995, but no one has the courage to turn off the analogue FM
All SRG SSR stations, like Couleur 3, are now only available on DAB+ and online. Commercial/private stations from Switzerland will follow the movement in late 2026 and will have to close their FM transmitters too.
I have only 1 FM station remaining in the entire FM band, it's an odd feeling
À quel endroit précisément ?
@@TransistorFR Ticino. Only radio ticino is remaining.
I think they will consider to turn it back on, when this years accident rate of drivers goes up due to handling of equipment that is more complex than a radio :D
IIRC local stations remain on air.
@@fungo6631 Commercial/private stations from Switzerland have the right to remain on FM until late 2026, but they have the right to turn their transmitters off from now if they want to do so. They have no obligation to stay on FM from today.
@@TransistorFR What are they gonna use the FM band for then, once they turn it off? Will they allow DRM+?
@@fungo6631 It won't be used again to my knowledge.
@@TransistorFR What will happen to private radio stations after 2026. Will they be able to renew their FM licences if they wanted to or will the Swiss regulator refuse to issue new licences if a private station requested one?
What about the neighboring stations that kept blastin' some bass and didn't care?
Other stations next to 105.6 are French, not Swiss. They are not concerned by the switch-off.
Wow, what a cruel way to end it. :(
Sad days indeed. Luckily here in Finland private stations are allowed and licences can be applied for. It seems the only analogue broadcasts in future will be private ventures by individuals……
2:37: The end of FM
Switzerland has officially become the second country to switch off FM, the first country was Norway in 2017, After its public broadcaster successfully shuts down its FM, the entire radio industry in Switzerland will switch off its FM transmitters by the end of 2026 at the latest.
The Norwegian "FM switch-off" affected only the nationwide stations. Local ones continue to transmit via FM, in fact there are 562 active transmitters in the country and they are licensed to operate at least until 2032. Which means that Norway is far away from becoming "the first country to switch off FM".
When the change of technology is done to an already safe and reliable technology, then expect something ugly is lurking under. Thankfully the solar interference long awaited has different opinion.
Since there's no other use for 88-108 MHz band than FM broadcasting, there should not be fixed date set for the forced shutdown. By imposing it, the Swiss regulator has acted contrary to the free market competition rules and against the interests of the public. They aligned themselves with the DAB lobbyists who want to establish a monopoly for their own broadcasting standard. But the real action of an actual regulator should be to protect the citizens from the influence of corporate lobbying and do everything possible to foster competition. It should be a decision made individually by each of the stations after own assessment. If someone wants to broadcast in analog, why should the state refrain from issuing a license and collecting the necessary fees? Who benefits from that?
The patents related to DAB audio (as defined in ETSI TS 103 466) have expired and DAB audio is now a free-to-integrate technology.
@@DrLamalama This information is misleading. It refers to the 'old' DAB standard from the early 90s that has been phased out in most of the world. In case of the current variant, which is the DAB+ standard, the HE-AAC v2 audio encoder is patented and all DAB+ radio manufacturers have to pay a fee for each produced unit. DAB+ does not allow the use of royalty-free codecs (for instance Opus Audio).
In some countries, exactly the opposite is the fact. State TV sits like a hen on FM broadcast frequencies, because the fear losing ad revenue and market share when broadcasting in DAB+ blocks where lots of private radio companies already are established.
Who benefits from that ? The Reptiliens.
Pity to see Switzerland leaving the FM Band. Thanks for the recording Lucas, this will serve as a history for future generations to come. At the end of the video, a brief audio was heard, perhaps it is now France Info occupying the band nearby? 73!

You're welcome. The other station we can hear after the switch-off is France Info Saint-Étienne. 105.6 used to be a mixture of 3 semi-locals: • RTS Couleur 3 - La Dôle • France Info - Saint-Étienne • Radio Nova - Vienne
